What's new in Navigator 1.5?
----------------------------

#. The Anaconda Project tab has been added to enable working with Anaconda Project. This feature is still in "beta" status, so watch for more updates soon.

#. The interface now makes it clearer when there is a new version of Navigator available.

#. Numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements have been added.

See full details in the :doc:`navigator-changelog`.

System requirements
-------------------

* Navigator supports the same platforms that the Anaconda Distribution
supports, including Windows Vista and newer 32 or 64-bit, Ubuntu 14.04
  32-or 64-bit, or macOS 64-bit

* Python 2.7, 3.4, 3.5, or 3.6

How to get Anaconda Navigator
-----------------------------

Anaconda Navigator is automatically installed when users download and install
:doc:`Anaconda <index>`.

If you already have Anaconda or Miniconda running on your system, you can
install Anaconda Navigator from a terminal or command prompt with the command
``conda install anaconda-navigator``.

How to start Anaconda Navigator
-------------------------------

When you install Anaconda on Windows or macOS, an icon is automatically added
to your programs menu and/or your Desktop to launch Anaconda Navigator.

You can also launch Anaconda Navigator from a terminal or command prompt with the
command ``anaconda-navigator``.

Different Linux distributions such as CentOS or Ubuntu have many different
systems for adding shortcuts to menus and to the desktop, so Anaconda does not
add these shortcuts automatically. Instead, you can use your operating system to
create shortcuts that run the command ``anaconda-navigator`` on the desktop or
on the operating system's main menu or both.

How to use Navigator with Anaconda Repository
---------------------------------------------

Anaconda Enterprise subscribers can easily set Navigator to search
your local Anaconda Repository instead of Anaconda.org. From the
top menu bar, select Preferences. In the "Anaconda API domain" box,
enter the address of your local Anaconda Repository and click the
Apply button:

Next, sign Navigator into your local Anaconda Cloud (Anaconda Repository)
so you can search for packages marked as private. Click the top right
"Sign in to Anaconda Cloud" button and enter your Anaconda Repository
Username and Password, then click the Apply button:
